Access, privacy and retention

Free subscriber access

Behind the Work is currently free for subscribers to The AI Developer. Registration is immediate. You have one calendar month to confirm your account through a private Substack message and a single-use code. If our review is delayed, we can extend this window. We do not collect an email address for registration or subscriber verification.

A subscription is required to keep your account and public project links active. If a later manual check finds that you are no longer subscribed, we send a private Substack warning and show an account notice. You have seven days to resubscribe and confirm. After the deadline your account is frozen: editing and publishing stop, and public pages and public downloads display an unavailable message. You can still sign in, read and export your saved work. Confirmation restores the same links.

Private project storage

A project with no available public edition is eligible for permanent deletion after two calendar months without a saved change. Projects in Trash follow the same rule. We show an in-app warning at least 14 days before deletion, with a final warning during the last seven days. If you do not return to the app, you may not see these warnings. Saving a change resets the clock; signing in or reading does not. Export a project to retain your own copy. Projects with an available public edition are excluded from inactivity deletion, including while their owner is frozen. An article URL alone does not prove that a project has been shared.

Information used by this app

Giorgio Favrin operates this workspace. It stores your handle, display name, passkey public credentials, account reference, saved project material, and the dates needed to administer access and retention. After you request subscriber confirmation, the administrator privately associates your app handle with your verified Substack handle and records subscription checks. That association is visible to you and the administrator; it is not added to your public project pages.

Your Substack email stays within Substack for this workflow. Your private messages remain subject to Substack’s own policies. We do not import subscriber email lists. The app also uses a session cookie and hashed rate-limit identifiers for security; the host may keep separate access logs. Private material stays private until you select entries for publication.

Permanent deletion removes project data from the live database. Restricted backups may retain earlier copies until the hosting backup schedule removes them. Frozen accounts are not deleted solely because they are frozen. Contact Giorgio privately on Substack for access, correction or deletion requests, or to resolve an incorrect subscription check.
